En 1994, pendant une longue nuit d'hiver, un groupe naît.


Créé au fin fond de l'Alaska (à Anchorage), 36 Crazyfists est formé de Brock Lindow au chant, de Steve Holt à la guitare, de Mick Whitney à la basse ainsi que de Thomas Noonan à la batterie.


Le nom assez particulier de la formation (36 poings fous - en français) est tiré d'un film avec Jackie Chan. A l'image d'une bonne prise de KungFu bien placée, la musique de 36 Crazyfists dégage une puissance et une maîtrise assez impressionante en live.


Le groupe enchaîne d'ailleurs les dates quelques temps après sa création. Mais un accident tragique vient noircir le tableau durant l'année 1996. Leur bassiste décède lors d'un crash de voiture et le groupe stope net sa tournée.


Après une année d'abscence, les 36 poings fous migrent vers Portland, Oregon, où ils rencontrent le groupe Skinlab qui va les aider à trouver un label.


36 Crazyfists signe alors avec Roadrunner, grâce à leurs irréprochables performances en concert et leur maxi en poche auto-produit durant l'année 1997.


Le groupe se met alors au travail, compose et enregistre leur premier album en 2001.


Il faudra attendre 2002 pour la publication de Bitterness The Star.


Le groupe revient en 2004 avec un très bon album : A Snow Capped Romance.
