O jovem Tristan tenta conquistar o amor da bela e fria Victoria indo em busca de uma estrela cadente. A jornada o leva a uma terra esquecida e misteriosa além dos muros da cidade. Nessa odisséia, Tristan encontra a estrela, que se transformou numa garota fascinante chamada Yvaine. Mas Tristan não é o único à procura da estrela. Os quatro filhos vivos de um rei – sem falar dos espíritos de seus três irmãos já falecidos – competem pela estrela na disputa pelo trono. Tristan também terá de enfrentar a feiticeira má Lamia, que pretende usar a estrela para recuperar a juventude.


Ao lutar para sobreviver a todas essas ameaças – encontrando pelo caminho um pirata, o capitão Shakespeare, e o suspeito negociante Ferdy, o Receptador, Tristan vê sua missão mudar: ele precisa ganhar o amor da estrela, agora que descobriu o verdadeiro amor.
