Simba's dochter Kiara is nu groot en gaat voor het eerst zelf op onderzoek uit in het koninkrijk. Ze komt per ongeluk in het verboden land terecht en ontmoet Kovu, een verbannen leeuwtje. Kovu is geadopteerd door Scar en Zira. Kovu en Kiara worden verliefd. Maar Kiara mag niet met Kovu omgaan, omdat Kovu bij de troep van Scar hoort. En Kovu mag niet meer met Kiara omgaan, omdat Simba Scar heeft vermoord. Maar zal hun liefde sterk genoeg zijn om toch bij elkaar te blijven?
