Torrent description

Wasteland #1-19 (ONI Press)

“If the barren, lawless landscapes of Mad Max and The Stand made you thirsty, Wasteland should be an oasis.” -Wizard Magazine

About

"What is Wasteland?

Wasteland is a comic book by Antony Johnston and Christopher Mitten, with covers by Ben Templesmith, published by Oni Press.

Wasteland takes place in a devastated, post-apocalyptic future America. Set one hundred years after a catastrophe known as the ‘Big Wet’, it's the story of Michael and Abi, two characters with unique and unnatural powers, as they search for the fabled land of A-Ree-Yass-I; which legend says is where the Big Wet began.

Their quest will take them thousands of miles across a ruined, hostile land where technology has been forgotten and scavenging is a way of life. Where a relentless sun beats down through a cloudless sky. Where no birds take to the air, no forests carpet the hills. Where the oceans are fetid and poisonous, impossible to cross.

But Michael has been walking this land longer than he can remember. If anyone can beat the odds and survive the journey, Abi believe it's him. With his survival skills and her quick thinking, can they find A-Ree-Yass-I together?

Perhaps. But along the way they'll face betrayal, prejudice, war, revolution and more..." - Official website

"Yes it's another post-apocalyptic story. But it's well executed. The story is character driven, and those characters are interesting. What little we know of the history is told by the Sun-Singer priest as a fireside fable. (And on the website www.thebigwet.com) The art is stylized and dynamic. The action is intense and even scary at times." - Steve Fuson (excerpt)

Issue #7 was drawn by Carla Speed McNeil, as opossed to Chris Mitten, the regular artist; and it is a stand alone story.

Format

"Each issue of Wasteland is 32 (black & white) pages long (with the exception of issue #1, which was a special double length premiere) and contains 22 pages of comic story, one episode of the prose serial travelogue Walking The Dust, a letters column and preview page for the following issue. The remainder of the pages are taken up by ads, normally for other series from Oni Press and/or by Wasteland's creators.

The letters column sometimes contains pieces of submitted fan art, and Johnston himself often answers the letters.

The F.A.Q. section of Johnston's website has the series slated to run for 50 issues." - Wikipedia.

Soundtrack

The series has a soundtrack of sorts, with music written by Antony Johnston an performed by Ruin Runner.

The tracks are available for free at the website, but I decided to include them here because they are a good listen separately or while reading. Only four tracks are available so far, but the creators plan on putting up some more.
