Crée par Will Wright (géniteur de Sim City et des Sims), SPORE est un simulateur de vie ambitieux. Un jeu où toutes les possibilités s'offrent au joueur : création, exploration, colonisation... Cette idée vient du fait que son créateur trouvait que les jeux vidéo étaient de moins en moins renouvelés. Aussi, dans SPORE, c'est un concept original qui prend la barre. Basé sur la théorie de l'évolution de Darwin, ce jeu portera le joueur de la forme moléculaire à l'être civilisé par excellence. De l'océan à la terre ferme et de la communication à la vie en société, il faudra traverser cinq étapes pour voir la fin du jeu avec la conquête spatiale.
