Frisch aus dem Knast entlassen hat Oswald „Ossi“ Schneider (Tim Wilde) schon eine neue Idee, wie er seinen Geldbeutel schnellstmöglich wieder mit Barem füllen kann. Für Ossi darf es dabei ruhig auch Kleingeld sein: Er hat es auf Unmengen alter DM-Münzen abgesehen, die in einer regionalen Eisengießerei recycelt werden sollen. Diese will er anschließend in Euros umtauschen und erhofft sich, dadurch einen Riesen-Coup zu landen. Selbstverständlich braucht man für solch ein Unternehmen richtig gerissene Komplizen. Diese findet Ossi zunächst in seinem alten Kumpel Karl (Stefan Jürgens) und den Wurstbudenbesitzern Axel (Götz Otto) und Bruno (Michael Brandner). Als nächstes wird Ex-Stasi-Spitzel Konrad (Manfred Möck) hinzugezogen und wie aus dem Nichts ist auf einmal auch noch der scheinbar russisch sprechende Boris dabei (Helmfried von Lüttichau).
