Tortov Roddle travels the world on his long-legged pig, seeing amazing sights such as towns on the backs of giant frogs, fish that live in cups of coffee and a cinema created with the use of the back of a friendly bear. Still, he travels on.





Tortov Roddle is more of an interesting exercise in animation than anything else, although it's certainly a well made one. While not as experimental as some of my favourite short anime like Noiseman Sound Insect, it has a lovely storybook aesthetic, all the more impressive when you consider only one animator worked on it - I can't quite place the style, though, I'm sure it reminds me of something in particular but I can't quite work out what. Ultimately, it's not exactly the most exciting thing you'll ever see, but Tortov Roddle is an interesting 15 minute diversion from everyday anime, which is always a nice thing I suppose.
