Û± the San Francisco Bay Area; a starting point for ±Û


Û± infamous thrash bands like METALLICA, EXODUS, ±Û


Û± TESTAMENT, and VIO-LENCE, just to name a few. Formed by ±Û


Û± Julz on guitar and Slave behind the drum kit in January ±Û


Û± 2005, Hatchet started because they were fed up with the ±Û


Û± stale metal scene in their home town. Their desire to ±Û


Û± create music filled with substance and driving ±Û


Û± aggression would help to revive a genre that had slowly ±Û


Û± begun to fade away. ±Û


Û± ±Û


Û± In the beginning stages of Hatchet\'s existence, Slave ±Û


Û± and Julz would hold jam sessions every week to lay down ±Û


Û± the tracks that would become the foundation of the ±Û


Û± band. The duo began their search for other metal ±Û


Û± musicians, auditioning various rhythm guitarists. They ±Û


Û± would soon meet fellow thrash enthusiast Sterling ±Û


Û± (McFly). Sterling\'s focus and skilled riffing created a ±Û


Û± distinctive sound that gave them an edge and further ±Û


Û± improved on Hatchet\'s raw, unique blend of aggressive ±Û


Û± thrash metal. ±Û


Û± ±Û


Û± After taking numerous auditions, the prospect of ±Û


Û± finding a voice for Hatchet had seemed hopeless. The ±Û


Û± band had almost given up on the search for a vocalist ±Û


Û± until they had received a call from a unique character, ±Û


Û± Marcus (Tormentor). He came in and belted out classic ±Û


Û± metal anthems that the band had used to test his vocal ±Û


Û± abilities. Marcus\' distinct sound would soon become the ±Û


Û± voice of Hatchet. ±Û


Û± ±Û


Û± Even though they were still looking for a bass player, ±Û


Û± Hatchet quickly started gigging and traveled the ±Û


Û± lengths of California to show everyone that thrash ±Û


Û± metal was still alive and kicking ass! The band\'s drive ±Û


Û± to surpass the mediocrity that surrounded them would ±Û


Û± soon put Hatchet on the forefront of the Bay Area\'s ±Û


Û± underground metal scene. ±Û

Û± Knowing they could only make little progress playing as ±Û


Û± an incomplete band, the bass position had to be filled. ±Û


Û± Hatchet decided to ask a long time friend of Marcus\', ±Û


Û± Lou \"Sheepdog\" Bianco to join. This would go on to be ±Û


Û± the 1st complete original line-up for the band. ±Û


Û± ±Û


Û± With the addition of the new bassist, Hatchet began a ±Û


Û± relentless run of intense gigs and put themselves in ±Û


Û± front of a growing audience of thrashers that were ±Û


Û± beginning to reappear all over the Bay Area. However, ±Û


Û± difficulties would soon arise between the rest of the ±Û


Û± band and the new bassist. After only 2 months the band ±Û


Û± would mutually decide to part ways with the Sheep Dog. ±Û

Û± Finally, in the spring of 2007 Hatchet was able to ±Û


Û± complete their line-up. Bringing in a very skilled ±Û


Û± young bassist; 17-year-old Dan (Destroyer) answered ±Û


Û± their call and came in to rip through the 3 songs ±Û


Û± featured on their \"Frailty of the Flesh\" demo. Dan\'s ±Û


Û± precise bass lines complimented the Hatchet sound ±Û


Û± better than any previous bassist so he was asked to ±Û


Û± join, rounding out the current lineup. ±Û

Û± Shortly after the recruitment of Dan on bass, Hatchet ±Û


Û± entered the studio to record a new song entitled \"Storm ±Û


Û± the Gates\", that would be featured on Katon W. Depena\'s ±Û


Û± Thrash Metal Warriors compilation. Thrash Metal ±Û


Û± Warriors featured some of the most talented metal acts ±Û


Û± from all corners of the world, which included metal ±Û


Û± veterans Hirax, Sabbat, and Toxic Holocaust. ±Û

Û± In September of 2007 Hatchet signed with Metal Blade ±Û
