I Colosseum si uniscono nel 1968, gruppo progressive.Il loro progressive britannico e' ricco di elementi jazz- blues molto raffinati, che nel repertorio trovano ampio spazio in lunghe suite di pregio. La band si scioglie nell'autunno del 1971, per riunirsi ben 2 volte nel 1975 con il nome di Tempest e nel 1976 con il nome di Colosseum 2. Il gruppo in occasione della registrazione di un doppio dal vivo a Colonia nel 1994 tornano a suonare insieme. Gli anni 60-70 per il rock e' stato un periodo florido in america, come nelle altre nazioni Italia compresa: con molte band veramente valide.
