Crossing Jordan es una serie de ámbito policiaco centrada en la doctora Jordan Cavanaugh (Jill Hennessy, Ley y Orden), una actractiva, inteligente e intrépida forense de Boston con una carrera llena de altibajos, y con una tendencia incontrolada a ir más allá de su deber cuando se involucra en la investigación de un crimen.



Después de abandonar Los Angeles, la obstinada Jordan regreso a su hogar natal en Boston y a su antiguo empleo en la Oficina Estatal del Forense de Massachusetts, en donde se reúne con su padre, Max (Ken Howard, Los Colby), un ex-policía que aún sigue obsesionado por el asesinato de su mujer y que todavía no ha sido resuelto. Este trágico incidente provoca la empatía de Jordan con las víctimas de los crímenes que Jordan investiga y canaliza su propia ira y angustia a resolver complejos casos de asesinatos que han sido ocultos, dejados de lado o convenientemente olvidados.
