Please read before continuing; else you'll most likely be confused by all the options and end up left in the dark.
This was originally a DVD backup of all the games I play on my computer. I thought it'd be a good idea to save the ISO and then distribute it as a torrent, seeing as some of the games in this archive were torrented anyway -- so I did. In this package is the PowerISO installer and the ISO image itself of my games. It's approximately 4GB in size, so you'd better hope you have a fast internet connection!
Included in this package are the following games:
-007 Nightfire, AND no CD crack.
-DooM Legacy installer AND required WAD files for DooM 1, 2, Plutonia AND Heretic.
-Quake I enhanced (original Quake with some graphics enhanced)
-Quake II original CD rip.
-Quake III (torrented from here - works perfectly)
-Duke Nukem 3D High Resolution Pack LITE installer, and needed GRP file.
-Mechwarrior 3 CD files for installation.
-Worms 2 CD files for installation.
-Blast Thru CD files for installation.
-Hover, a wicked little game from Microsoft.
-Risen3D - a pretty cool DooM source port and all needed texture/model packs.
OK - if you are fairly proficient in this stuff, feel free to stop reading now and go download the file and then do your thing.
IF, however, you are not so proficient, please take the time to read this.
-For 007 Nightfire, use the PowerISO program to mount the large MDS/MDF files as CD's onto my computer. Install the game, switching CDs as you go. The PowerISO program is pretty easy to use. If you get stuck, just burn the CDs or try another program like DAEMONtools (not included). Once you have the game installed, use the instructions contained within to implement the no CD crack, or, if you're happy using the CDs, just play on as normal.
-For DooM Legacy, simply run the installer. That's as simple as it gets. The launcher is pretty neat, however on occasion the game would crash on launch on my computer. Also, I found that I MUST launch the game from the launcher directly; if I try it from a shortcut, it very oddly wouldn't work. Perhaps if anyone has similar experiences you can comment back this torrent and I can send a bug report to the maker or check for an update.
-For Quake enhanced, simply run the installer. That's it.
-For Quake II, again, just run the installer. You don't need the "CD" after installing.
-Quake III - just unzip all the contents and go. Setup files are not needed after installation. If the game asks for a CD key, just click accept. Or, use the keygen - but for most you don't need to do that. Again, any probs, comment this torrent and I'll see what I can do.
-Duke Nukem 3D HRP LITE and GRP file. Run the installer. When it asks for the GRP file, just point it to the DUKE3D.GRP file in the same directory and have it copy the file over. Then play on!
-Mechwarrior 3. Best burn these files to a CD... I have not yet to this date found a successful no CD crack OR a way of tricking it into running without the CD. If someone finds a working no CD crack, PLEASE comment! I hate having to put the CD in for a game =P
-Worms2. This is a similar situation to above. You can probably install the game without burning the files to a CD, but you need the CD in order to play. The no CD crack I *did* find, messed up the game though. Again, if you find one that works, comment! Another note, this game tends to crash if it is installed to a directory other than the default eam17worms2 directory. It's not just me either; forums are full of issues like that with this game.
-Blast Thru - you shouldn't need to burn these files to a CD to install. Just run the installer, and when you're done, that's that. In case you are wondering, Blast Thru is a paddle and ball game, you know, where you hit the blocks!
-Hover - just run the HOVER.EXE and go! it's that simple. I think I may even still have some of my high scores on there... see if you can beat them! Oh yes, the objective of the game is for YOU to catch all the blue flags before THEY catch all the RED flags! Sounds lame, but it's one of those games that actually gets quite addictive. If the game complains about a 256 colour driver, don't worry, just hit OK. The game is so old that if it detects anything above 256 colours, it thinks it's actually below 256 colours and complains. It runs just fine on 256 or higher.
-Risen3D. At first I had mixed feelings about this port, but, I've actually quite come to like it. The launcher is far better than Doomsday in my humble opinion, and since Doomsday failed to work correctly on my machine, Risen3D was the option I chose. Included is the frontend installer and ALL the required texture/model packs, which self extract right into their correct directories. For the DooM WADs, see the DooM Legacy installer, which contains what you need. It does no harm having DooM Legacy and Risen3D installed at the same time, to be honest.
Right, that's it! Those are all the games I run on my computer, minus one, an online game called GunZ, which you can download for free. I didn't see the point in including it here 1) because it is free and easily available and 2) the installer is only half a meg; the rest of the files (120 or so Megs worth) are torrented afterwards by the installation frontend.
AND.... all of those games run perfectly on my very modest 64MB integrated laptop graphics chipset, at 640x480, with most if not all models and textures enabled. So... download, install, ENJOY! But please, remember to seed and help support this and all the other torrents out there!
