In the comic book, Eben resorts to injecting himself with vampire blood, becoming a vampire himself in order to fight them off. Whether this is included in the movie is yet to be determined. Also in the first comic, the vampire who leads the raid on Barrow acts independently of his own vampire "elder" who shows up mid-way through the carnage and chastises the younger leader. It is during this vampire squabble when Eben (as a vampire) shows up to confront the legion of vamps. Again, whether this will be included as a plot feature or not...



30 Days of Night is a series of comics that focus on different characters at different chronological points. The first comic is based on the initial invasion of Barrow with the following comics tracing the events post-Barrow. In the Annual 2005 (retailer incentive) issue, a large bear of a man, John Ikos is followed as he ventures to L.A. in search of a FBI agent turned vamp. The comic mentions in passing that he was a survivor of Barrow. In the initial 30 Days of Night comic, we don't even see his character. In the trailer however, there are teasing shots of a large bearded man holding a flare as well as driving a truck and pumping a shotgun. Another clue that he may be included as a main character is a shot of a neon sign: "Ikos' Diner."
