Caesar har vunnit sitt frihetskrig mot människorna och har nu en fristad, Ape City, där
aporna lever. Caesar har som uppgift att samla ihop aporna och få dem att leva i fred med
människorna men gorillorna under ledning av General Aldo ser inte detta som ett
alternativ utan försöker starta ett inbördeskrig, mellan apor, för att få sin vilja
igenom. Samtidigt har människan kommit underfund med att apornas stad existerar och vill
återta herraväldet över planeten genom att utrota aporna en gång för alla.
