La fretta è nemica della bravura? Non sempre. Lo strasuccesso del precedente Slippery When Wet convinse i produttori a battere il ferro finché caldo, raccogliendo i migliori brani registrati durante il tour mondiale in un nuovo disco. Ecco quindi New Jersey, considerato uno dei migliori album dei Bon Jovi, per alcuni critici i migliore in assoluto. Personalmente, a parte Bad Medicine,

Wild Is the Wind e Stick Your Guns, non vi ho trovato brani accattivanti e fischiettabili come in Slippery o nei successivi Blaze of Glory (primo album solista per Jon) e Keep the Faith. Vero però che lungo tutto il disco si respira un’ispirazione genuinamente metal, il che rende comprensibile l’affetto dei metallari duri e puri. Per il popolino come me, che non disdegna il rock classico 

(magari con qualche influenza pop, se di qualità) New Jersey è sicuramente tra i migliori album bonjoviani, heavy ma digeribile anche dai profani.
