Buck è un cane che viene sottratto ai suoi padroni, che abitano in California, per essere scaraventato nel gelo dello Yukon. La povera bestia viene maltrattata da un uomo che, per conto di una società mineraria, sta cercando il terreno adatto per scavare una nuova miniera.
