City of God è un film del 2002, diretto da Fernando Meirelles, presentato fuori concorso al 55° Festival di Cannes.



Tratta dal romanzo del brasiliano Paulo Lins, la storia è ambientata in una favela brasiliana: Città di Dio. Il film ci porta a scontrarci con una serie di personaggi principali, che uccidono e finiscono uccisi, tranne il narratore Buscapè, che con le sue paure e i suoi sogni rappresenta l'altra parte di questa favela. Un ragazzo che grazie a un minimo di autocoscienza, riesce a sottrarsi al suo destino e diventa un fotoreporter.



Dal film è stata tratta una serie televisiva. Nel 2008 è uscito nelle sale cinematografiche "la Città degli Uomini" che riprende le tematiche e gli ambienti della "Città di Dio".
