Michael "Bully" Herbig bringt den kleinen Wickie, bekannt vor allem durch die Zeichentrickserie, die erstmals 1974 im ZDF und ORF ausgestrahlt wurde, in die Kinos. Wickie lebt zusammen mit seiner Mutter Ylva (Sanne Schnapp) und seinem Vater Halvar (Waldemar Kobus), dem stursten Wikinger-Chef aller Zeiten, im Wikingerdorf Flake. Die Wikinger sind von Natur aus starke, unerschrockene und laute Gesellen. Wickie jedoch ist ganz anders: zurückhaltend und zart besaitet. Doch er besitzt eine Gabe, die kaum einer seiner Mitwikinger hat: er ist schlau, um nicht zu sagen: sehr, sehr schlau - und überzeugt mit Ideen frei nach dem Motto "Köpfchen geht über Kraft!"
