Rui Manuel Gaudêncio Veloso, commonly known as Rui Veloso,(30 July 1957,Lisbon), is a Portuguese rock singer and musician. Regarded as the \"father of Portuguese rock\", this composer and interpreter had a great impact on the Portuguese music scene with the record Ar de Rock (April 1980).
Songs such as Chico Fininho and A Rapariguinha do Shopping were instant classics in the 1980s. His lyrics, normally written by Carlos Tê, are strongly influenced by the Porto culture. An unconditional lover of the blues, he has played with B.B. King several times. He became one of the most productive and renowned Portuguese musicians

Rui Manuel Gaudêncio Veloso, conhecido comp \"Rui Veloso\" é um cantor, compositor e guitarrista português. Considerado por muitos como o Pai do Rock Português, movimento musical surgido no início da década de 80, foi como intérprete de blues que começou a sua carreira numa banda de garagem chamada Magara Blues.
Toca harmónica desde os 6 anos. Diz-se apreciador de B.B. King e Eric Clapton, entre outros nomes consagrados e é reconhecido internacionalmente como o mais autêntico bluesman português.
É responsável por muitas das canções que fazem parte das lembranças de cada português como Chico Fininho, Porto Sentido, Não Há Estrelas No Céu, Sei de Uma Camponesa, A Paixão (Segundo Nicolau da Viola), Porto Covo, entre tantos outros êxitos.
Recentemente cumpriu o sonho de abrir a sua própria editora o Estúdio de Vale de Lobos.
