Top Secret! è un film comico del trio di registi e sceneggiatori Jim Abrahams, David Zucker e Jerry Zucker, celebri anche per la serie de "Una pallottola spuntata" e de "L'aereo più pazzo del mondo". La comicità surreale del film è abbondantemente basata su nonsense, paradossi visivi e giochi di parole. In alcune scene appare come una parodia di diversi generi cinematografici: dal cinema di guerra e di spionaggio, prendendo spunto, fra gli altri, da pellicole come Casablanca, La grande fuga e Quella sporca dozzina, alle commedie musicali (in particolar modo quelle ispirate alla figura di Elvis Presley), al cinema d'amore adolescenziale (Laguna Blu). Viene inoltre parodiato il telefilm A-Team. Vengono anche derisi alcuni comportamenti e stereotipi di varie culture europee.
Trama: Il cantante di surf/rock Nick Rivers viene (per errore) invitato ad un festival musicale nella Germania Est in piena guerra fredda. Qui conosce una ragazza il cui padre è stato rapito dal regime per fargli produrre una super-arma e il cantante viene coinvolto in una serie sempre più iperbolica di situazioni comiche, tra canzoni e sparatorie, inseguimenti e baci bollenti.
