Isaac Newton explique que l'intensité de la gravitation est déterminée par la masse. Plus la masse est importante, plus l'attraction est forte, et courbe encore plus l'espace. Grâce à Einstein et sa théorie de la relativité, les astronome ont pu observer et mesurer des "lentilles gravitationnelles" grâce à cette courbure, renvoyant des images "fantômes". Sont-elles des reflets d'un objet céleste unique ? Les objets que nous voyons, sont-il de la sorte moins nombreux qu'il y paraît ? L'univers peuplé de galaxies fantômes, est-il finalement plus petit que prévu ?
