Op de avond van Halloween zijn videotheekmedewerker Stan en z'n maatjes nog gewoon aan het werk. Er moeten video's afgeleverd worden in een verlaten Californisch stadje. In het stadje aangekomen, ontdekt Stan dat het er niet pluis is. Het stadje wordt gedemoniseerd door horrorfiguren Fweddy, Mason, Needlehead, Lucky, Michael Criers and Pleatherface. Stan en zijn vrienden zullen hierbij als reddende engel moeten optreden.
