Zu Beginn des Films wird behauptet, dass in Mexiko ca. alle 90 Minuten ein Mensch entführt wird. Entführung ist eine wirtschaftliche Form des Terrorismus. Was liegt also näher, als einen früheren Kombattanten einer Anti-Terror-Einheit unter dem Kidnapper-Kroppzeug einmal kräftig aufräumen zu lassen?
"Mann unter Feuer" von Tony Scott ("True Romance") erzählt die Geschichte des Ex-Marine Creasy (Denzel Washington), der nachts von den Dämonen seiner Vergangenheit heimgesucht wird und tagsüber flüchtigen Trost in der Bibel und im Whiskey findet. Aus Geldmangel übernimmt er einen Routinejob in Mexiko. Seine Aufgabe: Schutz und Überwachung der Millionärstochter Pita (großartig: Dakota Fanning aus "Ich bin Sam").
