Today Codemasters announced that Operation Flashpoint: Dragon Rising will hit North American retails Oct. 6 and European gamers on Oct. 8. Folks in the UK will have to wait till Oct. 9.



Dragon Rising has players take on the role of an American soldier who must capture an island that is being contested for by both China and Russia. The game features a completely open world, advanced AI, authentic weapons, vehicles and characters, as well as support for future DLC.



Developed for the Xbox 360, PS3 and PC, Dragon Rising is an intense military simulator. While originally slated to arrive this summer, the shooter was delayed to “balance the player experience throughout the game.”
