Een pas getrouwd stel gaat met de auto op huwelijksreis dwars door Amerika naar Las Vegas. Onderweg zien ze een vreemdeling langs de weg staan die er bijzonder slecht aan toe is. Ze besluiten hem mee te nemen, maar wanneer de vreemdeling bij komt begint hij hysterisch te worden en de echtgenoot moet hem uitschakelen. Dit is het begin van een nachtmerrie.
