Alfs (Kaspars Dimiters) makes ends meet by offering hunting weekends to rich businessmen keen to slaughter the deer on his rural estate. Alfs' teenage daughter Ria (Kristine Kruze) passionately loves the deer and decides to spoil the weekend of the guests. Her semi-catatonic mother Aija (Elita Klavina)lives in the attic and is cared for by Alfs' current girlfriend(Maija Doveika). 


Among the hunters is also Augusts (Juris Zagars),succesful Latvian businessman who lives in Austria. He has an old and dark secret with Alfs and Aija that begins to unravel leading to a disaster.  





Kairišs is a talented filmmaker with a very strong feel for pacing, composition and mood. Even if the characters are unhappy the film reflects melancholic rather than depressive note.
