TRAMA



Ragazzo di buona famiglia mette incinta la figlia di una prostituta, e la madre assolda un muscoloso erotomane per allontanare la ragazza dal "pargolo". Ma la vicenda volgerà in tragedia.







RECENSIONE



Ricca e cattiva madre-padrona, Conchita (S. Sandrelli), produttrice di mutande, architetta un ignobile piano per far sì che il figlio, morbosamente amato, rinunci a sposare una proletaria (P. Cruz), figlia di una ex prostituta (A. Galiena), bella e sapiente. Sgangherato melodramma semifarsesco e genital-prosciuttesco, è un film dove il discorso sul cibo è strettamente legato al sesso. Le scene di sesso fanno spesso ridere. Perciò la rozzezza di certe provocazioni del catalano J.J. Bigas Luna potrebbe essere assolta, almeno sul versante etico. Ma la sua mancanza di rigore stilistico? Esposto alla Mostra di Venezia, fu soprannominato Prosciutto, amore e fantasia. Forte è il sospetto che, nonostante le apparenze eversive, sia una Spagna per l'esportazione.







CURIOSITA'



° Il curioso titolo deriva dal fatto che Jamón, che in spagnolo significa appunto prosciutto, è il termine con cui in Spagna si suol definire in maniera volgare una bellissima donna (l'equivalente italiano è figa).



° Il film contribuì non poco a far decollare la carriera di Penélope Cruz, all'epoca attrice 18enne e alle prime armi.



° È il secondo film erotico interpretato da Stefania Sandrelli dopo La chiave.



° Il Leone d'oro conquistato al Festival di Venezia fu vinto ex-aequo con Hotel De Lux ed Un cuore in inverno.



° Curiosamente, in Italia il film divenne un vero e proprio "caso cinematografico" e fece parlare molto di sé mentre in Spagna passò quasi inosservato.
