Deel 1 van deze miniserie volgt de jeugd van Elisabeth von Beieren, kortweg Sissi genoemd,

en haar verliefdheid met Keizer Franz Joseph van Oostenrijk.



In Deel 2 zien we hoe Sissi na haar huwelijk met Franz Joseph wel de harten heeft veroverd

van de Oostenrijkse bevolking maar niet die van haar nogal bedillerige en ouderwetse

schoonmoeder, aartshertogin Sophie.Sissi wil namelijk zelf haar kinderen opvoeden en

dat valt niet goed aan het strenge Oostenrijkse hof.



In Deel 3 zien we hoe Sissi verder vervreemd raakt van het hof en in Hongarije van haar

vrijheid geniet.Als echter een graaf haar de liefde verklaart, keert ze snel terug naar

haar echtgenoot in Wenen. Wanneer Sissi plots ernstig ziek wordt moet ze wederom ver weg

van haar geliefde echtgenoot om te genezen.
