Hösten 1941. 43 unga sjömän ombord på den tyska ubåten U-96 går ut i kriget mot England under befäl av en stridslysten 30-årig kapten. Under de kommande åren blir de blodtörstiga jägare, som utan förvarning kan utrota tusentals sjömän - men blir också ett skräckslaget byte, fångat i en kista av stål djupt ner under havets yta.





Ingen film har tidigare fångat krigets spänning och fasor med sådan styrka.





Das Boot blev nominerad till inte mindre än sex Oscar, bland annat "Bästa Film", och kan i denna version verkligen visas som det tekniska och berättermässiga mästerverk det är.
