Nel bel mezzo di una tempesta, un circo itinerante perde accidentalmente un carico molto prezioso: una zebra neonata. Il cucciolo, ancora barcollante, viene tratto in salvo da un fattore di nome Nolan Walsh che se lo porta a casa per regalarlo alla figlioletta Channing. La piccola zebra viene battezzata "Striscia" e diventa la mascotte di tutti.
