As one employee of Congressman Stephen Collins (Ben Affleck) is found dead following a long investigation. The woman is also shown to have been the mistress of the politician. Research journalist Cal McCaffrey (Russell Crowe) and his female colleague Frye Della (Rachel McAdams) pounce on the matter. There appears to be a problem to occur. The friendship between Collins and McCaffrey stumbling block seems to be increasing during this investigation.
