Plot:

Due esperimenti nucleari, della Russia e degli Stati Uniti, avvenuti contemporaneamente spostano l'asse terrestre provocando una serie di cataclismi accompagnati da un'ondata di caldo eccezionale. I governi delle due super-potenze preferiscono tenere nascosta la verità su quanto è accaduto, ma il "Daily Express", venutone a conoscenza, denuncia la notizia all'opinione pubblica. Mentre ovunque il panico dilaga, scienziati e militari adottano la soluzione estrema di fare esplodere altri due ordigni atomici per ricondurre il pianeta nell'orbita naturale. Nella redazione del giornale si preparano due titoli alternativi per l'indomani: "il mondo è salvo" e "il mondo è condannato"…..
