Es dürfte wohl in der Filmgeschichte keinen einzigen Film geben, der in seiner


Rezeption so extrem kontrovers beurteilt wird wie \\\"Triumph des Willens\\\".


Nirgendwo sonst divergieren moralisch-politische und künstlerisch-ästhetische


Bewertungen mehr als bei diesem Film. Zu seiner Zeit noch international ausgezeichnet


(\\\"Bester ausländischer Dokumentarfilm\\\" beim Internationalen Filmfestival in


Venedig 1935; Goldmedaille bei der Weltausstellung in Paris 1937) wurde er


Leni Riefenstahl, und hier insbesondere natürlich in Deutschland, nach 1945


zum Verhängnis. Dieser Film allein, mit der Konsequenz einer untrennbaren


Assoziation zum NS-Regime, dürfte bewirkt haben, daß ihre Karriere als Regisseurin


nach 1945 beendet war, und alle weiteren Projekte bereits im Ansatz zum Scheitern


verurteilt waren.





Einerseits wird \\\"Triumph des Willens\\\" als Meisterwerk der Film- und Bildsprache


angesehen, andererseits stellt er wohl die Perfektion des Propaganda-Films dar.


Noch heute ist ein Verkauf und eine Aufführung des Films in Deutschland nur zu


wissenschaftlichen Zwecken oder Lehrvorführungen erlaubt.
