3 Minute Wonder - Richard Long: Heaven and Earth

Monday, 1st June to Thursday, 4th June 2009

7:55pm to 8pm

Channel4

3 Minute Wonder is a showcase for short films from new and upcoming writers and directors on Channel4. They run each day, usually from Monday to Thursday, with each week's films linked thematically.

This week the four films showcase the work of the Turner Prize winning artist Richard Long. Richard graduated from St.Martin's School of Art in 1968 after previously studying at the West of England College of Art in Bristol. The programmes were made in association with Tate Britain to promote Richard Long's autumn exhibition at the gallery.

Many of his works are based around 'walks' that he has made where he draws a line through the landscape and then photographs this to represent the mark that his walk and his person has made on the land. As well as land based natural sculpture, he uses the mediums of photography, text and maps of the landscape he has walked over.
