Mitte der 60er kommt der neurotische Jngling Richard Speck von Texas nach Chicago, um sich nach einem Job umzusehen. Auf der Strae macht er die Bekanntschaft einer zutraulichen Krankenschwester und folgt dieser, weil er gerade nichts Besseres zu tun hat, zu deren Schwesternwohnheim, wo er sich gewaltsam Zutritt verschafft und acht von insgesamt neun anwesenden jungen Frauen auf zum Teil uerst brutale Weise ermordet. Ein von den Taten emotional berhrter Cop macht sich den Fall zur Aufgabe
