M59 was the very first online role-playing game ever! In my oppinion it is still the best,
and i have played a lot of pay to play MMORPG's - Dungeons and Dragons online, WoW, Warhammer, etc.
What M59 may lack in high end graphics it easily makes up for in gameplay and originality.
This server has been up for about 2 years now and is not going away any time soon, so you can build
your characters in confidence, knowing that they will be around for years to come.
If you are looking for the best graphics and a million players on a server, this is probably not the game for you.
If you are looking for a game that is extremely in depth, with a huge amount of spells and weaponcraft skills, then
you should give M59 a try. M59 is like the RPG version of a really good chess game. For every spell there is a counter
spell - eg, fireball/resist fire - acid touch/resist acid. For every advantage there is a disadvantage - eg, equiping
heavy armor makes you take less damage from physical attack, but amplifies spell damage.
Here are some features of the game:
7 schools of training (weaponcraft and 6 schools of magic)
Faren - The war mage's school of spells. These spells deal with elemental damage. How to deal damage to others,
how to deal damage at a distance, and how to resist this damage from others.
Jala - The bard's school of spells. Most of these spells take the form of songs that you play which affect all in the room.
These spells can help you heal faster, or even hinder the casting of spells. Some of the spells also help create potent magical
items that duplicate spell effects
Kraanan -
Qor - The evil one's school of spells. These spells help the darker side to achieve power. Different spells will help you hide
from your enemies, damage your opponents with acid, drain life from others, and even gain incredible powers at incredible costs.
Requires the caster to follow the dark path of negative Karma.
Riija - The trickster's school of spells. These spells deal with deception and illusion. As the spells get more powerful,
the illusion becomes more real and sometimes more deadly.
Shal'ille - The healer's school of spells. These spells help heal the pure at heart. Different spells will help you heal damage,
remove harmful magics, and even punish the wicked. Requires the caster to have positive Karma in order to cast the spells.
Weaponcraft - The school of warriors. The attacking school. Gives your character the ability to fight any creature in the game
when some of its skills are maxed.

Unique skill advancement system - use your spells/skills to advance their % effectiveness. Once you attain a certain total% for
that level, you become elligible to buy the next level of advancement. The % needed to advance is not the same for everyone.
Your stats and negative influence of spells/skills of different schools all contribute to your advancement.

Unique levelling system - In most games you kill stuff for xp and when a certain amount is reached you gain a level. In
meridian, you must fight increasingly hard creatures to gain hitpoints. There are no levels as such, just a % effectiveness
of your spells/skills and your amount of hit points. There is a percentage chance of gaining 1 hitpoint every time you kill a
creature that is tougher than you are. When you die, you lose 1 hitpoint, get transported to hell and drop all possessions
that are not in the bank or a vault.

Selective pvp - certain zones are pvp so it is up to you whether you want to participate in pvp or not.

Advanced guild system - hire one of many guildhalls for your guild. Be careful who may be hiding invisible nearby,
waiting to hear you say the password to your stash room.

Justice system - vote in a justicar. Only he has the power to pardon murderers and turn their names from red back to white. Make
a posse and hunt down those evil red namers.

First person view - see that shield in your left hand and watch that sword swing, bow flex or hand jestures as you cast your
destructive spells.

Vast world, with many maps and a huge amount of creatures to kill, each with their own different skills and styles of attack.

Factions - join a faction and help them grow in strength and stay in power, giving you added bonuses to attack, skills, etc

Games within a game - buy a chessboard at a tavern ingame and play a game with your friend or foe. There is also a game called
"the assassin's game" where you can hunt down the other players with an assassin's knife to be the last survivor.

Test your fighting skills against your friends or enemies in the arena. No penalties apply to any deaths that occur in the arena
