'Blood and Chocolate' is an adaptation of a young adult's book that tells a familiar tale of forbidden love – but gives it an unusual twist. There have been some complaints by viewers that this movie does not faithfully follow the book, which should not be a problem for those who did not read the book.





The movie is about a free spirited young woman in Romania whose simple life hides a secret and a young American artist roaming her country in search of inspiration. Their paths cross in an old church and they become smitten with each other. He soon realizes that she comes from an ancient line of loup-garoux - the werewolves who have secretly ruled Romania for years after being run out of other countries. She is promised to the leader of the wolf pack – someone who she, of course, does not desire. The clash of the two lovers’ worlds and the wolf pack’s refusal to let her go leads to the inevitable final confrontation.





Some interesting and understated horror effects contribute to the mood of this well crafted film.
