This remastered 1970 episode from the GUNSMOKE Director's Collection set is noteable for being the second of two episodes directed by William Conrad....the man who in his many years as a dramatic radio actor had his first major fame playing Matt Dillon for 9 years on CBS Radio.





Two years after the radio version ended, Conrad's first of two TV episodes of GUNSMOKE behind the camera was the amusing "Panacea Sikes" during the 8th Season in 1963. Then narrating THE FUGITIVE for the next 4 seasons kept him busy.





Not long after he directed Richard Basehart in "Captain Sligo", CBS finally gave William Conrad his own TV series as the private detective CANNON.  The show was a hit and lasted 5 years, but the man also had time to return to GUNSMOKE in 1973 to narrate the two-part episode "Women for Sale".
