Torrent description

The debut album from Brooklyn-born Aaron Stout 'Queens Live in Caskets' sounds so beautiful and homemade you sometimes feel he's in the room behind you, tingling away on his little guitar like a small leprechaun. There's something delicate, lovely and intensely 'live' about his grubby folk compositions - if you fell in love with Diane Cluck's deeply personal one-take tunes then Aaron Stout will no doubt have a similar appeal. Opening on a curveball with the rocky 'The Coronation', we are before long treated to the album's main theme with 'Space Station' - a theramin, drum machine and guitar based tune held together by Stout's confident vocals. There's something reassuring too about the fact that the man wrote these songs when he was a mere 23 years of age which gives it a freshness, a purity missing from so many albums in this overpopulated genre. You should know by now how much we love intimate lo-fi folk, and this album is no exception - a dusty storybook of fine aural pleasure. Recommended.
