“Victor Meldrew is a retiree with an attitude who seems to attract bad luck. If he's not driving his long suffering wife Margaret crazy with his constant moaning, he's fighting with his neighbours.”

----------------------

Overview:

One Foot in the Grave was a BBC television situation comedy series written by David Renwick. The show ran for six series, with several specials, over a ten year period, from 1990 to 2000. In addition, four episodes were remade for BBC Radio 2[1] and the series also inspired a novel.

The series featured the exploits of Victor Meldrew, played by Richard Wilson, and his wife, Margaret, played by Annette Crosbie, in their battle against the trials of modern life.

It was filmed in Christchurch, Dorset[2], although it is set in a suburb of London, possibly in Bedfordshire, where the writer, David Renwick, grew up.

One Foot in the Grave came tenth in a 2004 BBC poll to find "Britain's Best Sitcom". The programme also came 80th in the British Film Institute's 100 Greatest British Television

Christmas Special 1996. The Meldrews return home to find a man living in their shed (played by Ray Winstone), who it later turns out is a drug dealer. Victor has a new job as a gardener working for Patrick's new boss Fenella Fortune (played by Rula Lenska). However, it seems that weedkiller has become an appropriate title. Meanwhile, Mr. Swainey's mother is claiming that she is being abducted by aliens every night. Mr. Tambourine Man by The Byrds is used in the closing credits. 60 minutes.
