Here's a sobering fact to be learnt from tonight's trip following the motorway police of the Midlands: there are now so many illegal migrants found walking along UK motorways (frequently having been dumped from lorries by traffickers) that police have stopped arresting them; instead they tell them to report to Home Office centres in Croydon and Liverpool, though how many do isn't known. Foreign nationals are the theme here, as in various ways they cause headaches for police on the M6. The opening sequence involves two Swedish women who, for reasons that never become clear, decide to treat a busy stretch of the M6 as if it were a high street they could dash across. The resulting scenes are, even by the standards of a voyeuristic genre, truly shocking.
