Scenario

Last of the Summer Wine is set and filmed in and around Holmfirth, West Yorkshire, England and centres around a trio of old men whose line-up has changed over the years. The original trio consisted of Bill Owen as the scruffy and child-like Compo, Peter Sallis as deep-thinking, meek Clegg and Michael Bates as authoritarian and snobbish Blamire. When Bates left in 1976 after two series, the role of the third man of the trio was filled in various years up to the 30th series by the quirky war veteran, Foggy (Brian Wilde), the eccentric inventor, Seymour (Michael Aldridge), and former police officer Truly (Frank Thornton). The men never seem to grow up and develop a unique perspective on their equally eccentric fellow townspeople through their youthful stunts. The cast has grown to include a variety of supporting characters, each contributing their own subplots to the show and often becoming unwillingly involved in the schemes of the trio.

Episode Information:

Episode 1 - Ferret Come Home

Compo's ferret has escaped and taken up residence at Nora Batty's. Can Wally get it back safely?

Episode 2 - Getting On Sidney's Wire

Sid at the café is trying to install a bell, but its advanced technology is beyond Compo, Clegg and Foggy.

Episode 3 - Jubilee

Holmfirth is organizing its own celebrations for the Queen's Silver Jubilee, and Foggy decides the trio should have their own float.

Episode 4 - Flower Power Cut

Some people talk to trees, but Clegg is serenading flowers in the café.

Episode 5 - Who Made A Bit Of A Splash In Wales Then?

Foggy visits a lady friend in Wales, but what will happen when the others arrive?

Episode 6 - Greenfingers

Deciding that the deterioration of the British vegetable is due to a lack of good honest muck (manure), our heroes go in search of good fresh vegetables and encounter a giant carrot.

Episode 7 - A Merry Heatwave

Nora Batty's brother is near to death and not likely to see another Christmas. So Foggy decides to re-create a nice traditional, old-fashioned Christmas - in the middle of a sweltering hot summer…

Episode 8 - The Bandit From Stoke-On-Trent

'Laugh-a-minute' Amos Hames may have toured Europe in the 1940s, but what is he doing here at Holmfirth now? It all seems rather suspicious…

Episode 9 - Small Tune On A Penny Wassail

It's Christmas Day and the usual festivities are underway. Compo becomes interested in a skateboard.
