Doch dann taucht ein maskierter Unbekannter unter dem Pseudonym V (Hugo Weaving) auf und beginnt mit terroristischen Mittel wie Bombenanschlägen und Mord an der stattlichen Wahrheit zu rütteln.


Bei einer dieser Aktionen wird die junge Evey (Natalie Portman) mehr unfreiwillig zu seiner Helferin und wird dadurch auch zum Feindobjekt für die stattlichen Instrumente.
