26 years after the original 'Now' release revolutionised the pop world with its greatest hits of the year package, the nation's favourite compilation series returns for an astonishing 73rd outing. Kicking off disc 1 with an electro vibe, 'Poker Face' by Lady Gaga offers an up-tempo start with its robotic hook and punchy chorus. The liveliness continues with Cascada's poppy 'Evacuate The Dancefloor' and the relentlessly catchy 'When Love Takes Over', which finds R&B sensation Kelly Rowland in triumphant collaboration with French DJ David Guetta. The highlight from her fifth studio album, Funhouse, 'Please Don't Leave Me' is a welcome contribution from American superstar Pink, offering a rockier edge to proceedings. Chart smashes from Girls Aloud ('Untouchable') and The Saturdays ('Work') are worthy additions, but it's a relative veteran of the 'Now' series who steals the show...Back for her 17th 'Now' appearance, Britney Spears returns with the foot-stomping, beat-heavy bliss of 'If U Seek Amy', confirming the media's favourite popstar's place as the queen of comebacks. Disc 2 launches on a soulful note courtesy of 'Halo' by Beyonce, a hit on both sides of the Atlantic, the laid-back vibes continue with the Mark Ronson-produced Daniel Merriweather track, 'Red'. English indie favourites Kasabian add a welcome rock song to proceedings with 'Fire' - their biggest commercial single to date. Meanwhile, singer-songwriters make their mark, with stunning tracks from Paolo Nutini ('Candy') and James Morrison ('Please Don't Stop The Rain') side by side. The second disc ends in a similar vein in which the first disc opened, with the electro-dance fusion of 'Poppiholla' by Chicane. A major re-working of the Sigur Ros classic, 'Poppiholla' is jaw-droppingly atmospheric, concluding the album on a highly enjoyable, if experimental note.
