Not long before baby Kal-El came to Earth, UFOs were spotted in the 


skies over Smallville, and at least one woman was abducted, at which 


time she lost her young son to the aliens. Now, over thirty years later, 


UFO researcher Alicia Berenson thinks she's uncovered a link between the 


Kansas Sighting and Superman's arrival, and Clark Kent fears she may be 


right. 





Did Jor-El conduct experiments on humans - just in order to save his only son? 





Superman's origins and his arrival on Earth have been explored so 


obsessively in the past that anyone, even the most diehard Superman fan, 


could be excused for sighing, "Oh, not this again" upon first hearing 


the premise of KANSAS SIGHTING. 





But the biggest surprise here is what a fresh take DeMatteis has on the 


material. Certainly, the idea of a somewhat less-than-benevolent Jor-El 


bears a close thematic resemblance to the "evil" Jor-El storyline slowly 


unfolding in the SMALLVILLE TV series, but the resemblance is a superficial 


one, at best. If this two-parter should remind us of anything, it should take 


us back to the glory days of THE X-FILES and make us wonder just what Fox Mulder 


would have done with the pieces of the puzzle laid out here.
