Plot English:
A young man is released from prison after many years and given a new identity in a new town. Aided by a supervisor who becomes like a father to him he finds a job and friends and hesitantly starts a relationship with a compassionate girl. But the secret of the heinous crime he committed as a boy weighs down on him, and he learns that it is not so easy to escape your past.

När Jack vid 24 års ålder äntligen släpps ut ur fängelset har han tillbringat merparten av sitt liv inlåst. Tillsammans med en annan pojke mördade han ett barn när han var 10 år. Filmen följer Jacks försök att ta upp ett liv i frihet som aldrig fick någon riktig start. Hans mentor och fadersgestalt blir övervakaren Terry, som hjälper honom genom en mognadsprocess som borde startat för många år sedan. Men det förflutna släpper inte greppet och i takt med att vi får veta mer om vad som ledde fram till det fruktansvärda dåd som ödelagt så många liv, ökar känslan av spänning, komplexitet och slutligen undergång eftersom vare sig tabloidpressen eller Terrys riktige son tänker tala tyst om vad som hänt.
