Konststudenten Ben Willis lever en sömnlös tillvaro sedan hans flickvän dumpat honom. För att klara sig igenom långa, tråkiga nätter börjar han jobba nattskiftet i en butik. Där träffar han en lång rad färgstarka personligheter som alla handskas med sin nattliga tristess på olika, uppfinningsrika sätt.


Ben roar sig själv med att fantisera om hur han stoppar tiden, och fryser tillvaron i butiken. På så sätt får han tid att uppskatta skönheten i ett ögonblick och hos en människa – särskilt den tystlåtna Sharon i kassan.


Ben spelas av Sean Biggerstaff, från de första två Harry Potter-filmerna. I övriga roller syns bl a Emilia Fox (Pianisten) och Shaun Evans (Being Julia). 








When art student Ben Willis dumps his girlfriend Suzy, he develops insomnia after finding out how quickly she moved on. To pass the long hours of the night, he starts working the late night shift at the local supermarket. There he meets a colorful cast of characters, all of whom have their own 'art' in dealing with the boredom of an eight-hour-shift. Ben's art is that he imagines himself stopping time. This way, he can appreciate the artistic beauty of the frozen world and the people inside it - especially Sharon, the quiet checkout girl, who perhaps holds the answer to solving the problem of Ben's insomnia.
