1958. Een gigantische metalen reus valt neer op de Aarde en maakt de inwoners van een klein dorpje doodsbang. Alleen de negenjarige Hogarth is niet geschrokken en raakt zelfs bevriend met de reus. Helaas wordt hun vriendschap verstoord door een paranoïde overheidsagent die er er alleen op uit is om de reus te vernietigen.





Iets reusachtigs komt op ons af. Hogarth Hughes heeft en gigantische robot gered, die vanuit de ruimte op aarde terechtgekomen is. Nu heeft de jonge Hogarth een zeer grote vriend en een nog groter probleem: waar verstop je een metershoge, ijzervretende (autowrakken zijn een ware lekkernij) reus? En het wordt nog ingewikkelder wanneer een nieuwsgierige FBI agent in de stad aankomt om de ' buitenaardse indringer ' op te sporen, en helemaal wanneer de gezamenlijke land-, zee- en luchtmacht van de Verenigde Staten erop af gestuurd wordt om de reus te vernietigen. Resultaat: een ongelofelijk avontuur, een combinatie van staal en magie, maar met veel gevoel.

This is the story a nine-year-old boy named Hogarth Hughes who makes friends with an innocent alien giant robot that came from outer space. Meanwhile, a paranoid U.S. Government agent named Kent Mansley arrives in town, determined to destroy the giant at all costs. It's up to Hogarth to protect him by keeping him at Dean McCoppin's place in the junkyard
