Die Leiche eines jungen Mädchens stellt die Polizei von Paris vor ein Rätsel. Ungewöhnliche Narben finden sich um ihre Augen. Lieutenant David Hoffmann (Albert Dupontel) deckt eine Verbindung zwischen der Leiche und dem berüchtigten Drogenschmuggler Dimitri Nicolov (Alain Figlarz) auf. Dieser steht bei Hoffmann bereits ganz oben auf der Liste: Er ist der Mörder von Hoffmanns Lebensgefährtin. Seine Ermittlungen führen ihn zu einer namhaften Klinik für plastische Chirurgie. Die Aktivitäten dieses Labors beschränken sich jedoch nicht nur auf das Äußere. In den versteckten Winkeln des modernen Gebäudes wird mit Gedankenmanipulation experimentiert. Bald wird Hoffmans aufopfernder Rachefeldzug zu einer tödlichen Mission, denn auch er kann sich der Gewalt dieser Maschinerie nicht entziehen.
