Ambientato in un futuro post-apocalittico nel 2018, John Connor, l'uomo destinato a condurre la resistenza umana contro la Skynet e il suo esercito di Terminator. Ma il futuro a cui Connor è stata abituato a credere durante gli anni della sua formazione viene in parte alterato dall'apparizione di Marcus Wright, uno straniero, il cui ultimo ricordo è quello di essere stato nel braccio della morte. Connor deve capire se Marcus è stato inviato dal futuro o proviene dal passato. Mentre la Skynet prepara il suo attacco finale, Connor e Marcus si imbarcano in un'odissea che li porta al cuore delle operazioni della Skynet, dove scoprono il terribile segreto che si cela dietro il possibile sterminio della razza umana.
