The content fixes problems from Omnitech 16878 and earlier 4.2" GPS units (from Staples/Woot.com) as well as Gonav S1000 units (nearly identical units). These units stopped tracking satellites on 6/14/2009 0:00GMT. The firmware fix addresses that problem.
1. Simply copy the content on a freshly and properly (FAT16) formatted SD card (non-SDHC). It only needs to be large enough for the files which are less than 7MB.
***Before proceeding: make sure you power the unit with external source such as USB or power adapter. Do not run with battery. If the unit quits/powers down in the middle of the firmware update you get a brick.
2. Insert the card to your GPS unit and reboot (cold start). When the windows icon shows up just tap the screen.
3. Wait until the update status bar runs through its course. You will see "OK" in the bottom of the update window.
4. Reset the unit, with the reset button next to the power key.
5. Insert your original GPS data card (hacked or original, with all the GPS data and files you used before the unit quit working).
6. Reboot and test. It should work fine.
The files have been scanned ESET NOD32 4.0.417 and the lastest definition. If you get a virus warning it's probably because it is an exe file with firmware updater. Please do not overreact since you are never meant to run this on your desktop PC anyway.
